For anyone who hasn’t kept up with the news about Skullgirls and Lab Zero, last night on the Salty Cupcakes stream Mike Z announced that while they have cut ties with Konami said-company issued a de-listing request for Mircosoft and Sony to remove the game from their respective online game markets, which Mike said he had found out from a Sony representative and not from Konami themselves. This is shitty news, and I know we’re all pissed off about it. I’m not very happy with it myself, especially since Konami never even talked to Lab Zero about it. However, I want to stress this as much as possible:
Don’t send Konami hate mail or threats.
Yes, this is bullshit, yes I know you’re mad, and yes this is absolutely unprofessional and ridiculous, but sending them angry e-mails or tweeting about them being a terrible company while throwing around awful slurs will not make this situation any better or scare them into changing their minds about what they’re doing. But I do know what will make a difference.
Buy Skullgirls on Xbox Live. Or Playstation Network. Or even the Steam Store. Play the games. Buy Skullgirls merchandise at Eighty Sixed Clothing or Sanshee. Join and post on the Skull Heart message boards. Go to the Salty Cupcake streams to talk to Mike Z and Lab Zero and even other Skullgirls fans. Support Lab Zero and the community.
That leaves a bigger and more positive mark than leading a lynch mob to Konami’s doorstep, and from what Lab Zero and Mike Z went through the past several years it would really mean a lot to them to know that their fans are still with them despite all the setbacks and drama.
